In March 1993, when Mumbai was shaken by devastating bomb blasts, several Bollywood luminaries, including Shah Rukh Khan, Dilip Kumar, Raj Babbar, and Mithun Chakraborty, were in Dubai for a celebrity cricket match. Actor Akashdeep Sabir recounted that the event, which was expected to draw a full house due to the presence of these stars, suffered from poor attendance as people refrained from attending in light of the tragic events back home.

The low turnout led to significant financial losses for the promoter, prompting him to request the participants to arrange earlier flights back to India. However, Shah Rukh Khan, accompanied by his wife Gauri Khan, expressed a desire to extend their stay in Dubai. At that time, Shah Rukh was on the cusp of stardom, with his film "Baazigar" released in November 1993, not yet achieving its iconic status. Sheeba, Akashdeep's wife and a leading actress then, offered the couple her apartment for their extended stay.

This period marked a pivotal moment in Shah Rukh Khan's career, as he transitioned from promising newcomer to Bollywood superstar. The 1993 Mumbai blasts left an indelible mark on the city's history, and the presence of these actors in Dubai during that time remains a notable anecdote in the chronicles of Indian cinema.
